Holly Jones, Secretariat

Graduated in 2004 from the Nottingham Trent University with a Joint Honours Degree in Social Psychology and International Relations, Holly took time out to travel around South East Asia, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii and Canada before returning to the UK and acquiring a PA role in 2006 to the Senior Innovation Manager within Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency for Yorkshire and the Humber (the government agency responsible for economic development in the region).

During her 6 years with Yorkshire Forward, Holly gained valuable experience across several roles within the Innovation Team. As PA to the Senior Innovation Manager, Holly was responsible for day-to-day diary management, collating project updates for various internal reporting processes and business progress meetings, minute taking, booking meeting rooms & catering, providing meeting packs & maps for journeys.

Holly acted as the Coordinator for the Yorkshire Innovation Council Meetings, the Science and Industry Council for Yorkshire and Humber who promoted, lobbied for support, and advised on ways to improve the economic performance by increasing levels of innovation in our companies. Members of the Council included CEO’s of high profile regional businesses and Vice Chancellors from the regional universities.

In 2008, Holly delivered an event called Innovator, the Yorkshire and Humber Innovation Awards. The Innovator Awards aimed to reward and celebrate businesses in Yorkshire & Humber that have achieved significant commercial success through innovation, and to encourage other regional businesses to follow their example. Over 3 years, the event programme recognised 18 regional businesses and research organisations for their outstanding achievements.

In 2010, she managed a series of strategic investment projects across varied sectors as part of the network programme of Yorkshire Forward. The networks aimed to; increase regional collaboration, develop supply chains, offer practical advice and increase productivity and innovation through the application of new techniques to strengthen the sector.

Holly took maternity leave in January 2012. Returning in February 2013, she took up a position at Pub is The Hub, a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation established by HRH Prince of Wales in 2001 that offers advice to rural pubs and facilitates projects by encouraging licensees and communities to work together to support, sustain and deliver local rural services. Holly designed and implemented the Community Services Fund, made up of public and private sector investment.

Joining the Yorkshire Agricultural Society in November 2013, Holly provides the Secretariat to the Advisory Group of the Farmer-Scientist Network.
